Variety Descriptions
Variety descriptions come from a combination of data from the American Dahlia Society Classification System and commentary from my own growing experience. Any errors in data are likely mine. If you find one, please let me know by emailing hello@dragonflybloomswa.com
Guarantee / Refund Policy
All tubers are pulled and individually inspected in the week prior to shipping. Each tuber will be firm and have a circled visible viable eye and will be individually packaged. Prior to shipping they will be photographed for later comparison if needed and/ or insurance claims for lost packages.
You will receive and email notification when your package ships. Upon receipt of your tubers, please open them immediately. You have 48 hours from the time stamp of your package delivery to notify us of any issues. If you will not be home within this time frame it is your responsibility to find someone to retrieve and inspect your tubers.
If you receive a tuber in poor condition, please email hello@dragonflybloomswa.com with your concerns and a photo/video within 48 hours of delivery. After this time you assume all responsibility. Please refer to provided instructions for storage, planting and care of your dahlias. We do not refund for loss in storage, rot, lack of bloom or disease.
If for some reason once bloomed, the tuber is not the variety purchased (highly unlikely - I'm a Virgo) please contact hello@dragonflybloomswa.com with photo evidence before Oct 1, 2026. In this situation, you may choose to be credited for the cost of the tuber (not including shipping) or be given the correct variety in 2027 (assuming I still grow it).
In kindness, PLEASE contact us before posting anything regarding a issue with your order on social media. We truly want to be happy with your tubers!
If for any reason tubers are lost in storage before shipping, you will be fully refunded for that tuber and it's associated shipping cost.
Growing Practices
We proudly raise our dahlias using organic methods. We soil test yearly to know how to best support our plants. We plant each tuber with dry brix molasses (insect resistance), worm castings and other amendments per our soil test. We spray with brix molasses and foliar feed throughout the growing season. We also treat with nematodes 4x a year. We use beneficial insects & essential oil blends for additional support as needed.
Inspections / Sanitation / Virus Protocol
We are fully inspected and certified each year by the Washington Department of Agriculture.
Sanitization is taken VERY seriously around here! All tools are sanitized at the beginning of each work day and snips are sanitized for a minimum of 5 minutes between each plant when cutting blooms. When dividing tubers all tools are disinfected for a minimum of 5 minutes between each clump. We moved part way thru the season to disinfecting with Virkon S and this will be our method going forward.
If a plant isn't thriving or is suspicious for disease it is immediately culled. Not worth the chance! We purchase our own tubers from growers who use practices similar to ours. All this being said, because dormant virus is prevalent (ADS predict 87% of plants) we can not guarantee that your tubers do not carry dormant virus. For more information on virus in dahlias and why we follow these protocols visit the American Dahlia Society.
